Jon Heberling: On the Innovative partnership.

It happens pretty frequently with clients...they'll ask "So how did you guys end up doing this?' The answer is one that goes back now over twenty years.

Keith and I first met in Long Beach, California somewhere in the early ninties. Keith had recently formed "Keith Willis Associates" an A.V. design and integration company and I was working as a designer and project manager for a local architectural design/build firm.

Our first project turned out very well and over the next several years we worked together on a number of custom home projects that my current firm was involved with.  Conversely on several occasions Keith had retained me to do architectural renderings and cabinet drawings for a number of his clients.

This was probably one of the first indications that architecture and home electronics had some future connection.

Early in 1997, we agreed to work together on our first dedicated theater room...a designer showcase house in Westlake Village. The room turned out to be very successful and the response to the room was truly amazing.

The showcase room was published in Audio Video Interiors Magazine in April of 1998....and Keith and I, along with a very dedicated and enthusiastic staff, have been designing and building private theaters the world over ever since!

Before founding Keith Willis Associates and Innovative Theatres in 1997, Keith, an accomplished guitarist, spent eight years recording and engineering large scale musical performances in America, Europe and the South Pacific with such artists as Prince, Chick Corea, Lee Ritenour and others.

As a main creative force in design and engineering, Keith has accomplished a wide range of commercial and residential projects. Residential projects include a multitude of private theaters, recording studios, screening rooms and "smart Home" automated residential systems. The scopes of commercial projects include the design and installation of audio/video for post production movie studios and commercial theaters throughout the world. He Currently holds a THX theater design certification from THX/Lucas film in San Rafael Ca.

Keith Willis was raised in the San Francisco Bay area and has attended San Francisco State University, The College of Recording arts and The University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) focusing on art, music, and engineering. He is an avid Pilot and enjoys flying for pleasure.

As a founding member of Elsworth Design Associates, Jon was responsible for the development of top-flite custom residential and contract projects within the architecture/interiors and construction industry. He also acted as the creative design manager and contractor on numerous
other projects. This extensive and varied experience has given Jon the unique knowledge needed for the creation and execution of the exceptional projects that we have been associated with. His ability to guide projects from the conceptual to the crucial bidding and construction stages
make Jon a multi-faceted key player.

Jon was the architect of the turn-key theater concept for Innovative Theatres. This approach of seamlessly blending architecture, automation and electronics within one design group, remains unique to the private theater industry and has been significantly responsible for the niche that has been carved out by Innovative Theatres. Jon is a key component in our success.

Jon Heberling has attended California State University-Long Beach, and in 1981 received a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree-Majoring in Interior Architecture with a minor in Marketing. Mr. Heberling is currently a candidate for Architect Registration in, the State of California.
